About us
ONCOS is a student association dedicated to providing a comprehensive understanding of oncology. Our aim is to support students in exploring their interests within this complex field, offering educational programs, social activities, and research opportunities to help them identify their potential career paths.
From classroom learning to hands-on experience, we offer a range of opportunities to explore your interests and connect with like-minded peers. Whether you’re just starting your journey or already have a clear career path in mind, ONCOS is here to help you reach your full potential.

What we offer
Once a month, on a Wednesday evening, we will offer one expert talk or lecture about a topic in oncology. We invite professionals in this field: PhD students, doctors, professors, … To talk about their field of specialty and make you discover what oncology is truly about!
Join our lectures for free! and don’t forget to sign up!
A couple of times per year, we will also set up workshops to work on your different skills! An example of these could be a laparoscopy workshop, how to make an echoscopy, etc.
Places may be limited so make sure you stay up to date for our various events!

Leila Bertolazzi President
Education: Master in Work and Organisational Psychology
Nationality: Belgian
After working on the OncoReach honours project during my bachelor’s, I realized how rewarding it is to connect students with the incredible world of oncology. I’m really excited to keep creating spaces for students to discover their own interests in cancer care, because I believe we should never stop being curious. My academic background lies in psychology and value-based healthcare, so my goal this year is to bring a new angle to the table, focusing not just on the clinical side, but on patient well-being, quality of life, and the value of healthcare.
Thomas Trygonis Secretary

I joined ONCOS during the last months of my bachelor as I am passionate and interested in Oncology. I became the secretary as I like contacting doctors and professors as I am good at networking. I aspire to learn more by being a member of ONCOS from the various expert talks, pub quizzes and events done by the association
Tuana Aksoy Public Relations
Education: MSc Biomedical Sciences
Nationality: Turkish
What draws me to oncology is the constant progress in the field and the amount that is still left to discover. With a background in biotechnology and now Biomedical Sciences, I especially enjoy the research side of understanding disease and how scientific discoveries can eventually influence patient care. I joined ONCOS to meet people who share this curiosity and to contribute to a community where we can exchange ideas, hear from people working in the field, and make learning about oncology enjoyable.
Irmak Işık Public Relations

I joined ONCOS as a member in my second year of studies, when my honours project focused on bridging the gap between oncology and students. Shortly after graduating, I joined the board because I believe there is so much more to oncology than what we cover in our education, from the complex biology and emerging treatments to common misconceptions and the industry behind it all. I want to help create more opportunities for students to explore this broad and rapidly evolving field and gain new perspectives.
Amrhitha Ramanathan Kalyanasundaram Treasurer
Education: Bachelor’s of Biomedical Sciences
Nationality: Indian
I am really excited to be part of ONCOS this year as a Treasurer. Oncology is such a vast field and there is still so much yet to be understood about the mechanisms underlying cancer. This research gap is particularly interesting to me, as advancing our knowledge will help develop better thereputics and treatments. As a board member, I am excited to make oncology more accessible to students and create opportunities that will help explore this field beyond what we encounter in our curriculum!
